Law enforcement officers revealed a factory that produced and supplied counterfeit fuel to gas stations in Kharkiv and neighboring regions.

The fuel counterfeit scheme was revealed thanks to the joint actions of the border guards with the employees of the Office of Large Tax Payers of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, which were conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The possible production of fuel from components imported under the so-called “gray” schemes, was exposed by the staff of the search and investigative unit of the Kharkiv Border Guard Detachment. According to the information obtained, the dealers received raw materials from the Russian Federation. This information was provided to the Investigative Directorate of Financial Investigations of the Large Tax Payers Office of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. On the basis of the obtained materials, the investigators opened criminal proceedings for the illegal manufacture of excisable goods (Part 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Within the framework of the operative and investigative measures with the involvement of the “Dozor” special forces unit in the territory of Kharkiv and other regions of Ukraine, authorized searches were carried out at the fuel production factory and gas stations. During the searches, samples of counterfeit fuel, documents of financial and economic activity, information on electronic media that can be used as evidence in court proceedings were identified and seized.

The amount of damage inflicted to the state is being currently calculated.
